What attributes are allowed in publisher overrides?

What attributes are allowed in publisher overrides?

Only specific attributes from select partner sites will be allowed to be overridden.

Added below is the list of attributes that are allowed to be overridden.

Attribute name: Business Name

Publishers: Google

Specifics for Google

  • Use the same validation as the location name field.

Use Cases - Allows businesses to have separate business names as per partner site requirements.

  • On Google: “ABC location of Brookfield”

You may want to have a variant of a business name on each of these sites as we progress towards supporting Yelp and Google for more customers.

Attribute name: Cover photo

Publishers: Google & Facebook

Specifics for Google

  • Minimum width 480px
  • Minimum height 270px
  • File size: 10kb to 5mb

Specifics for Facebook

  • Minimum width: 500px
  • Minimum height: 190px
  • File size: 10kb to 4mb

Use Cases

  • Allow businesses to choose a cover photo specific to each site’s dimensions.
  • This would allow us to upload cover photos to Google & Facebook with appropriate dimensions for each site

Note: We do not support uploading Facebook cover photos today, as we tried to accommodate one image for both Google & Facebook - which resulted in skewed photos on Facebook. With the overrides feature, you can add optimized cover images on Facebook now.

Attribute name: Category

Publishers: Google & Facebook

Specifics for Google

  • We’ve avoided supporting updating Google categories in the past due to our broad category mapping. Google publisher override would allow businesses to begin managing their Google categories right from our dashboard.

Specifics for Facebook

  • Allow the user to select a maximum of 3 categories of the Facebook-supported categories.

Use Cases

Allow businesses to choose categories appropriately on Google & Yelp since we do not cover all the categories on these sites via our set of categories at add location phase.

Attribute name: Additional category

Publishers: Google

Specifics for Google

  • Google allows adding multiple additional categories
  • Users can select from any of Google’s supported additional categories (auto-suggest)
  • Users can select a maximum of 10 additional categories

Use Cases

Allow businesses to choose additional categories appropriately on Google right from the Synup dashboard

Attribute name: Phone number

Publishers: Google & Facebook

Specifics for Google, Facebook & Yelp

  • A phone number input with the validation specific to the location’s country.

Use Cases

  • Businesses who want a call tracking number for Google but not for any other site can use this specific override attribute.

Note - Google allows call-tracking numbers.
